Records of a union that represented workers at the Speed Queen Division, McGraw-Edison Company of Ripon, Wis. Manufacture of washing machines began in Ripon in 1908 by the Barlow & Seelig Manufacturing Company, where the union was organized in 1937. In World War II, the company manufactured military equipment. A name change to Speed Queen Corporation occurred in 1949 and in 1956 the company merged with McGraw-Edison Company.
